Gombe United goal poacher, Mustapha Babadidi, who was the league leading top scorer with nine goals before he picked up an injury that laid him off the pitch for three months, is set to return to action before the end of the season in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).
The teenager was side lined due to a knee injury he sustained against Enugu Rangers at Pantami Stadium in an NPL rescheduled game in Match day three, which ended 2-1 in favour of Gombe United.
Speaking to the Desert Scorpion’s front man, Babadidi, informed that he has resumed training.” Am feeling fine now and I have resumed training, ”
He added that he hope to feature for Gombe United before the end of the season.
“I hope I will recover and feature in some of my team matches before the season come to an end. I have really missed football but am putting behind me the disappointment and looking forward to regain my real form when am fully fit for matches.”
Gombe United Media Officer, Halilu Mohammed Teli, also informed that the Desert Scorpion’s ace is on the right track to make a return and they (Gombe United) are expecting him to be fully fit for action in the penultimate week.
Halilu added that ”Babadidi would have been in full training by now but things did not work out as expected.” Babadidi is currently going through light training and he will be available before the end of the season.
Mustapha Babadidi became the youngest player ever in the history of Nigeria Premier League to score a hattrick, and the first player to score thrice in the Nigeria Premier League this season, after he netted three goals, in the game that ended by 3-1, in Game Week 4 against Niger Tornadoes at the Pantami stadium in Gombe.
Gombe United are placed on 12th position on the log with 42 points from 31 league games after they were piped by Lobi Stars on the by 2-0 in Match Day 32.
Unarguably, the absence of the 16-year-old striker due to injury has really tell negatively on the club performance in the second stanza of season.
