Eko 2012:Bolowotan Duo Scoring Goals

Two players from Bolowotan Fc of Ikorodu are proven their worth by banging in goals and putting up a spectacular performance in the Eko Football Festival team at the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival.

Bolowotan goal poacher,Ochuko Jacob sealed the victory for Lagos football male team in the second half of their encounter against Kastina when the Eko team grind out three points from the visitors, on the 26th, November,2012.

Eko football team yesterday,29th of November, 2012, ambushed Abia by 5-0.

Bolowotan defensive Midfielder Shola Brussa was one of the goal scorers in the five goals bashing as he powered in a shot from the midfield in the 74th minutes of play, he was also the general in the middle of the pack, winning balls and stringing passes.

The natural defensive midfielder dedicated his goals to the entire team and Bolowotan fans.

He says” I dedicate my goal to the entire team and most especially my coach, and Bolowotan fans”

Sapara, 74 mins Shola Brussa,78 mins Adekunle Adeboyega.

Speaking after the match the goal scorers enthused their feelings towards the team feat, they said they are ready to take on any team and win Gold for Lagos State.

Fidelis Iyang and Innocent Nathaniel Strikes Earn Bolowotan Victory Over 3SC

Bolowotan Football club of Ikorodu announced their arrival into the Nigeria National League(NNL) on a dashing note as they put an end to Shooting Stars Sports Club(3SC) pre-season winning streak after defeating the Oluyole Warriors by 2-1 in a preseason friendly, on Wednesday November 14, 2012 in Ikorodu, at the club Slaughter Slab, Strong Tower.

Thomas Adesina openned the score sheet for 3SC, while Bolowotan got two goals in the space of 4th minutes before the half time whistle through their hungry striker, Fidelis Iyang and Innocent Nathaniel, in the first 45 minutes of the encounter.

3SC put up a good performance in the first 15 minutes of first half,dominating possessions, winning all the balls off Bolowotan players, they took the game of their opponent, as the Ikorodu Oga Boys were nervous for the first quarter of 45 minutes, 3SC player, Thomas Adesina took an advantage of a defensive blunder by Bolowotan defenders, dribbled pass the goalkeeper, and slot in a dummy goal, on the thick of 17 minutes of play.

3SC lanky striker Ighodaro Osagona was shown a red card in the 30th minute of the game, after an infringement on Bolowotan player.

Fidelis Inyang header restored parity in the game for the Oga boys as he nodded in a cross from Nathaniel Innocent, passed 3SC goalkeeper, Olaide Okanlanwon in the 41 minutes of play,Bolowotan pressed forward, and got the match winner through a
superb curl from Innocent Nathaniel from the far edge of the flank in the 44th minute, and they went into the half time with a 2-1 lead.

The two sides showed a lot of creativity and quality in the second half, several chances were created by Bolowotan to increase the tally, but they did not utilized their chances.

Super Eagles player, Phillip Asuquo, who once featured for the Nigeria National team in a friendly match against Niger Republic a couple of months ago, threatened Bolowotan defence with swift dribbles and runs, he created several chances but 3SC attackers were not quick to convert the chances in the second half to redeemed their unbeating run.

Both teams paraded virtually all their Big names, Olaide Okanlanwon,Mutiu Adegoke, Phillip Asuquo, Osagona Ighodaro, Shola Adepoju amongst others for 3SC, while Bolowotan fielded the likes of Adebayo Bello,Sordiq Shomefun, Fidelis Iyang,Innocent Nathaniel, Abubarkar Mohammed et al.

Bolowotan extends their pre-season winning streaks to 9 runs, they also maintained their home record as they remain unbeaten at their Slaughter Slab.

Bolowotan next pre-season friendly will be against Eko football festival team on Saturday, 17th of November at Agege Stadium by 9am, the game against Kwara United will come up by next week Wednesday in Abeokuta, while Enugu Rangers game will be played by next weekend.

Bolowotan Duo Make Eko Football Team

Out of the 18 man team list of Eko Football Festival team that was released on Sunday, 4th of November 2012, two players from the newly promoted Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Bolowotan Fc, Ochuko Jacob and Shola Bussa finally made the 18 man team that will be trading tackles for Eko Football Festival team in the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012, Quadry Olawale media officer of the Oga Boys informed Felele247.com.

The two young chaps contributed to the success of the Ikorodu based team last season in the National-wide League as they helped the team gained promotion to the second cadre of the Nigeria League for the first time in the club history.

The goal poacher Ochuko Jacob whose scoring spree for Bolowotan last season earned him a shirt in the Eko festival team says, “It is a great privilege to be part of Eko football team, after series of screening exercised.

“We are the selected few, the coaching crew and other technical members solemnly believed in us that we can win gold in the football category, and I promise to keep scoring goals, and give my best for the team”. Ochuko said.

The power-packed defensive Midfielder, Shola Bussa whose defensive ability has got him a place in the Eko football team said, “Making the final 18 man team that will represent Lagos State in the forth coming National Sport Festival is like a dream come through for me at this moment, I will continue to put in more effort so that at the end of the day we can make Lagosian proud.”

Both players lauded the effort of the Lagos State Government and the organizers of the Eko 2012 for given them such a rare opportunity.

FEMI OPABUNMI LOSING SIGHT

It was gathered that Femi Opabunmi, the youngest player ever to play for Nigeria in 2002 FIFA World, who was also the second highest goal scorer in Trindad and Tobago 2001, U-17 Championship and won himself Silver Shoe, he also emerged the third best player of that tournament in 2001, and won himself Bronze medal, but now the player, who has played his heart out for our Nation is gradually losing his sight, and he needs help from every Nigerians.

Opabunmi disclosed that the problem started in December, 2006.

“In December 2006, I was training one day when suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my eyes. I could not see the ball again,”

“My vision became blurred and I decided to see an optician. The woman told me that in a few days, I could be blind if I did not have surgery, I went for it and the surgeon said it was a success.”

” The bill was so much that I was forced to contact a few of my friends. Osaze Odemwingie and Seyi Olofinjana responded by sending some money to me”.

“I was expecting to see again but there was no improvement. I visited the doctor and other hospitals in Paris without a solution.”

“On returning home, I went to Ojulowo Eye Clinic in Ibadan but I had no money to pay the bill. When Onigbinde heard about my return to Nigeria, he called me and helped me, He paid my bill at Ojulowo but the problem was only solved halfway”.

Opabunmi further stated ” in the afternoon I will see a little bit, but at night it is very difficult for me to see.”

It must be recalled that the present Oyo State Commissioner for Sports, Honourable Dapo Lam Adesina gave a sum of 500,000 naira to the former Shooting Stars player.
