COD Were Lucky – Ilechukwu

Chief Coach of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club  (MFM FC) of Lagos, Fidelis Ilechukwu, said on Saturday that the Olukoya Boys were superior to The City of David (COD) United Football Club of Lagos after his wards defeated their city rivals 2-0 in Match Day 10 of the Nigeria National League (NNL) encounter at the Agege Stadium.

“Before the game, my boys said to themselves that they must show the world that they are superior to COD United, and now they have proved just that. They were lucky not to have conceded more than two goals because my boys were in two much of a hurry to score more goals so anxiety set in. In a game like this the better and much determined side usually come out victorious.

“Our superiority will not end here at the Agege Stadium, we will take this good form to our home ground at Onikan stadium when we play the return leg,” said Ilechukwu.
First half goals from striker, Sikiru Olatunbosun and a well taken penalty by captain, Femi Oladejo, a midfielder who was unarguably the man of the match, were all MFM FC needed to beat COD United Fc and earn the three maximum points.

The Lagos derby indeed lived to its billing as both teams gave their all on the pitch, they entertained their fans with top notch performance, showing class and quality, MFM FC did not only dominate the game, they had much of the possession, more shots on target, and scored two goals within 27 minutes of play.

However, COD United FC made some changes and came all out in the second 45 minutes in their quest to get a decent result but MFM FC players stood tall in all the departments of the game, they defended their two goal lead and tactically outplayed COD FC.

By virtue of this victory, MFM FC have gathered 12 points from 10 matches, they are now 10th on the NNL Division B table, their next league game will be on the road to Abia Comet this weekend.
