Sunshine Stars vs 3SC abandoned match: LMC must be different from defunct Baribote led board in taking decision

The League Management Company (LMC) was set up with the aim of returning sanity in all ramifications to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) a couple of months back after Baribote led board was dissolved due to lack of accountability and transparency and other irregularities that rocked the then NPL.

It’s a great a pity that the so-called LMC are towing the way of the former league board with ineptitude decision making even when evidence are presented before them.

The beginning of LMC failure

Sunshine Stars and 3SC Week 30 Glo Premier League match  in Akure was abandoned at half time when the Akure Fans physical attacked and assaulted the 3SC Cameraman and other top officials of the club including the Oyo State Sports Commissioner, Dapo Lam Adeshina.

LMC in their preliminary ruling on the inconclusive match, indicted Shooting Stars and fined the Oluyole Warriors N3m and ducked 3 points from already accrued points for abandoning the match against the host, Sunshine Stars whose Fans battered the visiting team 3SC.

A Press release on the LMC website stated that the LMC announced the decision in a letter to the Management of the two Clubs and said the findings were based on the official match reports which did not support the claims of 3SC. The letter was signed by the Chief Operating Officer of LMC, Salihu Abubakar cited relevant articles of the Regulation guiding the conduct of the Glo Premier League and subsequently invited some persons for further hearing,on Friday September 13 at the Abuja National Stadium but they are yet to seat for the hearing.    Why is it taking much time?

However, nothing in the reports corroborate the claims of Shooting Stars. The LMC is therefore satisfied that the Shooting Stars deliberately abandoned the game”, says the LMC.

Why is the LMC delaying the verdict?

Before the Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars saga, we have heard series of abandoned matches and the LMC had dealt with warring teams judicially, 3SC vs Kwara United was abandoned,  the LMC sanctioned 3SC, Kwara United vs Warri Wolves game was not concluded the LMC hammers Kwara United, Wikki Tourists vs ELKANEMI Warriors was inconclusive,  the severely punished the Tourists, last week in Kano, Kano Pillars and Enyimba International Matchday 31 was relinquished,  the LMC penalised the Kano-based team but for they are yet to seat to for  Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars saga which was in Matchday 30, WHY?

It must be noted that Mike Idoko, who is a member of the LMC is also the Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency that was saddled with day-to-day running  of Sunshine Stars and other football related matter in Ondo, the same Man was actively involved in the show of shame.

The LMC must put aside any relationship that ever existed between them and Mike Idoko and do the right thing if they want be different from Baribote led board,  and if they want League Lovers to continually believed in them.

  1. LMC should know that justice delayed is justice denied. We cannot wait till eternity for justice that can easily be dispensed. God is watching us.
